Fall Finds
9/30/21 to 12/1/21
The Fall Finds page will document all the individual cars found that are not part of the other two collections in the Fall 2020 season, similar to the Summer Finds in the last season. We were going to add a Part 2 to come after Bike Ride 6, but we decided not to, as there were only two cars documented after Bike Ride 6, hence the date at December 1.
9/30/20 - DeVille Days (David)
Starting off the Fall season, we have an '80s Cadillac DeVille, with one tail light out. This was spotted during school while walking to class. On occasion I will see some cool cars, or hear them outside a window when I'm in school, but I saw an opportunity I couldn't pass up with this Caddy. It appears to be in remarkable shape too, and there's also no rubber bumper fillers missing, which is usually the first thing to go on these old Caddys.
9/30/20 - 1948 Ford Deluxe Coupe at a Garage (Sam)
The next three shots are all of cars being serviced at the mechanic's shop my family uses. He works on both classic and late-model cars, so he usually has a few oldies in the shop from time to time.
9/30/20 - 1969 Dodge Dart GT Sport Convertible (Sam)
9/30/20 - 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe (Sam)
You can also see the Ford Deluxe in the background
9/30/20 - Volvo P1800 (Sam)
There's not much to say about this car, other than it appeared to be a clean, solid example of a P1800. I passed it outside a storefront in Newport a few times, but never stopped to check it out. It must have sold awhile back because a year later, it wasn't there.
David: (June 2023) - I went back to look at a few of these early cars we found with more knowledge about model year changes, and I think I can identify the year(s) this Volvo might be. It appears to be a model produced from 1970 to '72, or at the very least a 1970 model. I can tell based on the grille design. Earlier P1800s had an "egg-crate" grille design, later models had a solid black design.
10/3/20 - Rear End Shot! 1962 Ford F-100 on Rt. 4 (David)
This was spotted on the way to a Cross Country race I had for my high school's team. This Ford truck, although you only get to see the rear end, was immaculate. The owner took great care of this, and it looked to be original as well.
10/3/20 - 1962 Ford Falcon in Hiding (David)
Sorry this a bit of a poor shot, but unfortunately this was the best I could get. This is a '62 Falcon sedan, and it appeared to be fully restored.
10/4/20- 1990 Ford Bronco II (Sam)
This Bronco is a local classic in North Providence. The owner usually stops in at the same gas station every morning, probably for his morning coffee. The truck eventually made an appearance at the 2nd A&W show we photographed, and a closer inspection confirmed it to be in the nice original condition that it appeared. Just this past year (2022), a for sale sign appeared in the back of it. Hopefully it will pass into the hands of a Bronco collector or enthusiast who will take proper care of it. These cars are becoming harder to find.
10/17/20 - 1969 Lincoln Continental Mk. II (David)
I remember this car because my friend and I took a wrong turn, and had to cut down a few side streets. This Conti happened to be on one of them. And coincidentally, I went on Facebook Marketplace later that evening, and this car was listed for sale. It's sold since then, but its always cool to see a car you've seen in real life on Marketplace.
11/8/20 - 1985 Buick Riviera Convertible (Sam)
This car appeared down the street from my grandmother's house one day when I was over cutting her grass. It has Mass plates on it, and I think it later sold on FB because I found an ad for a white '85 Riviera convertible that also had Mass plates on it. I think my grandmother also told me the owner (who was visiting a relative in RI) was looking to sell it. It was in very nice shape, at least cosmetically, so I hope it went to a good home.
12/1/20 - 1957 Chevy Bel Air (David)
This was spotted at the Cranston Fire Station in Edgewood. It must belong to one of the firefighters, as it was parked in the lot there. It has those '90s custom rims on it, which I'm not a huge fan of, but I can appreciate them because I vaguely remember them being on a lot of cars when I was younger. The nostalgia factor comes into play a lot for me with these.
