Early Spring Spotting
4/5/21 to 4/20/21
As Spring started it out, not many cool classics were out and about. But once April began to roll around, lots of other classics began rolling around too, literally.
4/5/2021 - 1989 Chevy Conversion Van (David)
This was taken at the parking lot at a Guitar Center in Warwick, RI. I was going in to look for a cheap project guitar to work on, but as I was walking in, I stumbled upon this. Like most of these cars on here, these conversion vans are also becoming a rare sight, so its always a surprise to see one still in working order.
4/5/2021 - 1979 Pontiac Firebird (David)
The late Pontiac Firebirds in that black and gold color combination is one of the best looking late '70s American muscle cars. I spotted this again on a hunt for a cheap project guitar. This time I was in Providence heading to a pawn shop, and this beauty caught my eye. It almost looks like the Smokey and the Bandit car, but that's a '77.

I was out exploring some areas of Cranston I haven't really been to, and I was wandering around some old factories on my bike, and stumbled upon this old Caddy parked at one of them. I was hoping to find an old car parked and forgotten about near an old factory, and I was pleasantly surprised by this '68 Eldorado. Clearly its a survivor car, given the worn paint and rust spots, but since seeing this car, the owner must drive it frequently, because I've seen it around the area I've found it multiple times.
4/16/21 - Volvo 240 Sedan (Sam)
This was a Volvo 240 I hastily photographed in Providence at the start of April break. A nice clean example of a reliable classic that was a common sight on the roads ten years ago. These cars aren't as common as they used to be, but you can still find them if you look hard enough. You can also see the freshly cleaned dash of our '07 Pilot that's hogging most of the shot (drive-by shots in the rain are a little tricky, especially when you see the car last-minute and whip out your phone to snap a pic).
2022 Update: Check out Late Winter Finds for a revisit of this street parked Volvo.
4/19/21 - 1972 Fury Wagon Revisited (Sam)
This picture could almost be mistaken as a period photograph from the '70s. It is in reality, however, a shot of the 1972 Plymouth a year later. The owner has taken good care of this car, and so little has changed in 2022 that I've decided to forego photographing it. The car is garaged (I think) during the winter and lives under a car cover during the spring and fall (or inclement weather). As David mentioned before, the car came from NY. Here's a link to a Mopar forum which has information about the car's most recent listing: https://www.forcbodiesonly.com/mopar-forum/threads/not-mine-turquoise-1972-sport-suburban-in-ny.56493/. Digging into the thread further, it looks like this car was sold previously in the recent past, as it was spotted with a different paint job in 2011 in Florida. The technical name of this car is Plymouth Fury Sport Suburban. Now say that five times fast! Regardless, it's a pretty rare car due to paint and condition alone, and I hope to see it cherished by its new owner.

Your 4/20 special, I saw this after I was walking out of work one day. It's another local classic that usually cruises the streets of Cranston on nice sunny days like this one. One of my employee friends knew the owner, and I was able to hear it start up. As you can see, this Mustang has been modified a bit, and the exhaust was either straight piped or had Glass Packs on it, as it was definitely not quiet. This is one awesome Mustang.
