Bike Ride 3

7/12/20

David: Bike Ride 3 is the first bike ride where I managed to capture a lot of cars. There a lot of different cars here, and even some trucks. You'll see lots of Corvettes, a Saab, and many more. There's even an M-35. That's variety! This ride covered most of the Elmwood section of Cranston, as well as a little bit of Warwick.

1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass

Starting things off, we have a 1984 Olds Cutlass. This a daily driver, as I've seen this car around town before. The owner has put after market rims on it, but also kept the stock rims for the winter. This an incredibly well kept car, and the '84 Olds is one of my favorites of the 80s GM era.

This car can be seen again in Bike Ride 6.

1980 Chevy Corvette

Cranston is filled with these as well as C4 Corvettes. I hope you like C3 Corvettes, because this only the beginning of the C3's dominating presence on this blog.

Above: Classic Chevy Special

Here we have two cars I found at the same place. We have an 80s Chevy Caprice Wagon and a '68 Chevy Impala hidden under a tarp. These cars both appear to be abandoned as the caprice had a bunch of flat tires and that Impala has been under the tarp since maybe the first Bush administration? The owner of these cars has no intention of selling them either, as there was a sign on his door making it clear that these aren't for sale. He also had a few ford wagons stashed behind some trees in his backyard, but they were too far gone to be photographed.

Abandoned Datsun 240Z

I love these old Z cars, and I rarely ever see them. This one has sadly been abandoned, and has been sitting in this spot for a long time. I would love to have this car restored because it appears to be in really good shape. This car is one that surely deserves a better life.

Double Trouble! 1967 Dodge Polara and a 1972 Pontiac Ventura

This is a 1967 Dodge Polara. It has some interesting fog lights on the front bumper that I am not sure are after market or original to the car. I'm also not sure if the paint job is either.  The owner has also tried selling it on Facebook Marketplace several times, but with no luck.

There is also a 1972 Pontiac Ventura right behind it in yellow. This car looks to be in a little worse shape than the Polara, but looks like it can be saved. This also appeared on Marketplace once or twice.

Both of these cars were spotted at a garage in Cranston off Elmwood Ave.

Sideways Challenger

Here we have a sideways 1971 Dodge Challenger. I remember riding my bike right past this thing and doing a double take because I thought it had rolled over. It's actually at a frame restoration shop and, at the time, was receiving work. I am unaware of the car's current state.

Above: 1967 Pontiac LeMans Project

Remember Andy's East Coast Speed from the first bike ride? Well, we're back as promised! This is a 1967 Pontiac LeMans receiving maintenance at the shop. This isn't the last time we'll be seeing this car either. It was also hard for me to get a good angle of it, since there was that giant boat in the way and that  car frame.

This car can be seen again, completed, in the Winter Break Finds 2021-22 collection.

1944 Ford Pickup

Look at all that patina. This was also found at Andy's and to my knowledge is still there today. It appears to have drag slicks on it in the back. In the future, we document another car at Andy's and you'll see this truck in the same spot two years later.

Saab Squared

Our first ever Saab! This is a 1993 Saab 900 Turbo. I found this car on accident while looking for an older Pontiac I had seen in the area prior to finding this. However, I'm not complaining.  If you look closely, you can see another car in the driveway. That's a 1986 Saab 900 S, which was sold on Craigslist a few months later. I really wish I bought, since it sold for only $1200.  However, this white 900 is a beautiful Saab, I love the car.

This car can be seen again in Bike Ride 6.

AM General M35 6x6  truck

Aka the Deuce and a Half, these can be found pretty cheap for sale. Except, I'm not sure what you would do with one since they're so huge. This stuck out like a sore thumb on Warwick Ave, and I had to take a picture of it since its so out of place to just see one in a normal area or not a driving in a convoy.

Datsun 280Z

Another Z car on the same ride! Here we have a 280Z also off Warwick Ave. This appears to be in really good shape and looks to be driven.

1974 Chevy Corvette

Here we have a 1974 Corvette Convertible. Also as promised, we have another C3. This is a beautiful example of a C3, and I believe it is a 1974 based on the front end fog lights and the rear fascia.

1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass

This car is CLEAN. It was also for sale for $10,000 at a used car dealership which probably explains why it looks so nice.

C3 'Vette Insanity

Are you ready for this C3 madness? Not only is there one C3 out front, but if you look in the back, there's another C3! That makes four so far. I am unsure on the year of these, but they appear to be from the mid 70s .

1950 Chevy Dump Truck

What you see is what you get with these old trucks, and this one has definitely seen some work. It looks to be in good shape, aside from the dent in the fender. It is also for sale, so if anyone is looking for an old Chevy dump truck, look no further.

1970 Chevy Monte Carlo SS

The last car spotted on the ride was this 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. I love old Monte's especially the early ones. They look so sporty yet so classy. Sadly they went from a fancy muscle car to a fancy car in the 70s but this was the golden era for the Monte. This one looks to be in amazing shape, and I wish I could've seen it up close. This car was gated off, so that's why the shot is so crappy, but if it wasn't we'd have some better shots of it. Maybe it will pop up in the future.
