Rockland, Maine Trip 2023
Sam: It's time once again to make the first annual trip to Maine of the year. I didn't get out to the transportation museum when I was up this time, so all of the sightings are from either the drive up or the return trip home. I did, however, manage to check out Firth's Salvage again and see some of the new (and old!) inventory that he had since my visit last year.
1992 Volvo 240
The first of many Swedes to be found on this trip. This clean example was spotted heading up I-95 on our way to the cabin.
1969 VW Beetle Cabriolet
Breaking the trend for a minute, we now have a stunning example of das auto. I was surprised to see the old Florida plate on this car, and I'm not sure if the owner drove all the way up from Florida, or if that was just where the car was registered. If it was the former, I'm impressed!

The Swedes return with yet another 240, this one of the wagon variety. David pointed out that this one appears to have a high mileage club badge on the grille, but whether it's a 100k or 200k badge is impossible to tell from the photo.
1979 Volvo 244
And if two old Volvo's wasn't enough, heres a third! This is the oldest and rarest of the three, and the owner appears to be taking great care to maintain its condition.
Above: Fiat 124 Sport Spider
We've had our Swedish fun, but wait, what's that little green thing? Gli italiano sono arrivato! Just outside of Bath, Maine, this immaculate Fiat made an appearance. È meraviglioso!
Pontiac Grand Prix Enduro Car
Unfortunately, this is the only representation from the US contingent for this trip. I hope this Pontiac lived a good life and will now go on to win several races to wrap up its career.
