Late Summer Cars Part 2
9/1/20 to 9/16/20
This is Part 2 of the Late Summer Cars collection. Most of these were taken right before school started, and I think some of these were taken while school was starting.
9/1/20 - 1963 Ford Fairlane 500 (David)
This is a unicorn of a Ford. Everyone knows the classic Galaxies from this time period, but unless you know Ford cars well, you might not know about this one. This isn't the Fairlane Thunderbolt, but its the predecessor to the Thunderbolt, which came out the next year in '64. This is still a very souped up version of the Fairlane, given its engine displacement and power rating.
Above and Left: (9/4/20) - 1963 Chevy Corvair Rampside Pickup (David)
These are a very uncommon and cool sight when you see one. Chevy offered these only from 1961 to 1964, and only a few were made. This was first Rampside Corvair I ever saw, and at first I thought it was a VW or a Dodge A-100. These early 60s mid or rear engine pickups are super cool.
9/6/21 - 1963 Buick Skylark (David)
This is an all original '63 Buick and funnily enough it looks much smaller when you're up close to it. I mean, it's still a fairly large car by today's standards, and this could be due to it's low ride height, but I digress. The early 60s GM cars have some of the best designs from the early 60s, and this Buick is a clean unmodified example of one.
9/12/20 - 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe (David)
It's really hard to tell, but this is a '66 Mustang notchback (coupe) taken at night with a zoomed in lens. My iPhone camera does not work in the dark like they advertise. I wish it did though, because it was a great looking car.
2022 update: In the South County Bike Path Ride 1 entry, this could be the Black '65 Mustang I found during that ride. When I look back at this photo, although its very dark and fuzzy, both cars have some similarities...
9/16/20 - 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (Sam)
I believe this car is a TA, judging by the tiny firebird on the c-pillar sheet metal. I'm not knowledgeable enough about these F-body cars to know exactly which year it is. This photo was taken by my dad, and he wasn't able to get a clear shot of the front clip, which would have made identifying the year much easier.
