Sometimes the cars we photograph don't make it into the main entries. Sometimes the cars we photograph weren't intended for blog use. Whatever the case may be, here are some of the various cars or photos that didn't make it into the main ONEC entries. Consider these "outtakes" if you will, like when your favorite music artists releasing unrelease demos or songs that never made it on to their completed records. Here are our unreleased works, released for you to enjoy! Maybe they're not the most clear, precise photos taken, but they'll offer a personal point of view between two friends sharing a love for classic cars and an undying spirit to capture the classic cars that once inhabited our raggedy Northeast roads.
This was referenced in the Cars of New York entry. It was a car that I had found parked, but then its owner had drove off before I was able to photograph anything decent. This was the only photo I successfully captured.
An unused photo from the entry of the same name.
This was a photo taken to show Sam on my way to class one day.
Two rear end shots of a JDM RX-7 FC and a USDM 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon Westy. Both were taken on I-95, with the RX-7 taken in Providence, and the Westy taken in Canton, Massachusetts.
This was taken by Sam when we took the Volvo for a ride in North Providence. Why it never made it to the blog, I don't know.
Here's the Volvo parked next to a '90s Bronco.
It's in the name, here are two classic cars I photographed at night, with the intention of starting a project featuring cars photographed at night. You'll learn what I'm referring to in a later entry. The first is a 1976 Mercedes Benz W123, and the second is an MGB from 1974 to 1980. Also, the picture of the Mercedes is unedited, the lighting was phenomenal.
This was photographed in Litchfield, Connecticut, on my way to get parts for my Volvo. I took a picture of these two trucks while in the Volvo, so theoretically, there were three classics in a row, the third of which cannot be seen!
The first truck is a 1948 to '50 Chevy 3100 truck w/ some modifications, and the second truck is a second generation Honda Acty.
Both of these were taken in Providence for a (for now) shelved project based on Langdon Clay's Cars of New York work from the 1970s. I wanted to create a similar project of photographing beat up classics around urban areas at night from my lifetime. These two cars were to be part of that series. They are a BMW 325i E36 and a Mercedes Benz W210 Estate.
Sam was paranoid that Cutlass Cieras had been following him, as he had been seeing a lot of them lately. I sent this photo as joke, saying they were following me as well.
I had photographed this before, and you can read about it here.
I photographed this initially because it looked identical to my Volvo, minus the rims. It wasn't included in the blog, because I hoped to find the car again and take better photos. I eventually did, and you can read about it here!
This controversial K-Car was taken at a stoplight in my Volvo via the rear view mirror trick. You can even see part of my phone in the left picture.
Of course this was meant for Sam, it's a B-Body from the '60s! This '66 Buick was spotted in the neighborhood of Knightsville in Cranston. It's not uncommon to see cars like this roaming the streets in the summer. I should really bike here more often...
I was actually taking a picture of the building. The Saab just happened to be there.
I love Volvos, but the E28 5-Series is one of the best looking cars of all time... in my opinion!
I would've taken more photos, but there were people around, and I didn't want to look suspicious. So, I did what any casual passerby would do, and snapped a quick photo from across the street.
An unused photo from the Volvos at the Farm 2023 car show.
This was photographed in passing on my way to New York City. You can read more about that trip in Cars of New York 2.
An unused photo from Cars of New York 2.
I was going to collect various photos of graffiti covered vans around New York City, but that never really happened. I did find a classic van in that entry though!
Because what proper trip to New York would be complete without seeing the original yellow NYC cab?
Taken on campus at URI, this Model T unfortunately never made it to the main blog because it was photographed while driving, and I never really liked how the photos came out.
I thought it would make a cool photo...
Like the Model T from above, this never made the final cut because it was photographed in motion. I would love to find this beauty again and do it proper photographic justice.
An unused entry. The same car was photographed on a different date.
Sam had mentioned that he had found a Nissan Z32 in great condition on his campus, so I sent him a photo of one that I had seen. I didn't take a full set of pictures because I was rushing to get home for work.
And it's a great morning because we have a Jaaaggg! I would've taken more pictures if this wasn't parked between several other cars.
This was unfortunately in motion, so I couldn't take any decent pictures of it. I would love to find this '78 Bronco again though.
An unfinished revisited entry of a previously photographed car, a beautiful '82 Volvo 244. The photo on the right was taken by mistake, but I like it for some reason.
This showed up on campus one day...
According to Wikipedia, the Nutmobile is a converted 2014 Isuzu truck.
Photos of some classics taken from and to school, in that order.
Spotted at a stoplight!
Another stoplight find.
An unused entry from Bike Ride 29.
It's a shame this was blocked off behind a chain link fence, because this looks like one sweet '47 Plymouth!
This was spotted on Elmwood Ave. at an abandoned gas station, so I can assume it, and the rest of these cars in the lot are a part of someone's personal collection.
Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll hop the fence one day...
Another unused entry from Bike Ride 29.
I know you probably saw that red Volkswagen in the background of the Peugeot entry, so I included it here for good measure. Unfortunately, it was parked in the driveway next to that gray Subaru Forester, and, like the 1947 Plymouth from above, I didn't feel like trespassing so I only photographed the front of the car.
I hope to photograph the whole car someday, as the color matched rims and white roof make for an awesome appearance. Maybe someday the Peugeot and this car will switch places.
An unused photo from the entry of the same name.
An unfinished entry. I would've taken more pictures, but there were people in the garage that this van was parked in front of, and I had a gut feeling that they wouldn't take too kindly of me photographing their van.
This '78 F-100 Custom is an early days era classic as well as a local classic to Sam's neighborhood. I spotted this on Wickenden St. in Providence one afternoon. Again, it was driving, so I couldn't get better pictures.
Too bad the gate was blocking me from exploring this junkyard. Besides the Malibu, a 1968 to 1972 Nova shell can be seen on the left, as well as several OBS Ford trucks. The Box truck appears to be a 1980 to 1991 Econoline, and then to the right of it are two ninth generation 1992 to 1997 F-Series trucks.
