Winter Finds

12/26/20 to 3/3/21

As we mentioned, there really weren't a lot of cars found during the Winter season. This is largely because New England winters are harsh, and most people don't drive their classic cars during this time to preserve them.  We also didn't get out that much during this time either.

12/26/20 - 1995 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible (David)

This Saab lived a few streets over from me, and it was a daily driver for some time before the owner moved away. I wanted to document it, and I finally did as I was walking home from work one day. The second generation 900 is overlooked by its predecessor,  but despite this, it is one of the last "true Saabs" before GM took over completely in the early 2000s.

1/18/21 - Lincoln Town Car: Suspension Sag Special (Sam)

Here's a prime example of the aforementioned suspension sag that plagues most '90s and 2000s Lincoln panther platform cars.  This is a 1998 to 2002 Town Car, and was spotted at a used car lot in Johnston.  Nearly two years later, the car is in the exact same spot and the suspension is still broken.  I think they've closed the hood since then, though.

1/27/21 - The Datsun 240Z During the Winter (David)

We revisit the Datsun once again in the Winter time.

2/13/21 - 1969 Chevy Impala Sport Sedan (Sam)

I volunteer at the Vintage Radio and Communications Museum in Connecticut, and on my travels to and from the museum, I passed this house several times.  It usually had some older Jeeps or Volkswagens outside (in fact, you can see a blue T2 bus in the background).  This car was up for sale for 3K on FB, and I actually saw it there first, recognized the house, and then photographed the car on my next trip out to the museum.  The seller stated the car ran and drove, but needed floor pans and some lower quarters.  It sat up for a couple months, but eventually sold.

2/14/21 - Snow Covered 1968 Chevy Nova (David)

Once again, we return to Andy's. He's had this Nova at his shop for a while. I thought it looked pretty cool covered in snow, and took a picture of it.

The Nova can be seen without snow in the Bike Ride 7 entry.

3/3/21 - 1999 Saab 9-3 Convertible in Downtown Providence (David)

We wrap up the winter section by coming full circle with another Saab convertible. This time, we have the 9-3, which looks very similar to the 900 mentioned earlier. Saab carried over the 2nd gen 900 body style to the new 9-3 for the 1999 model year. It was updated in 2003 to the more common 9-3. Saab enthusiasts consider this and the 900 the last "true Saab," along with the first gen Saab 9-5 from 1999 to 2005.
