Sometimes the cars we photograph don't make it into the main entries. Sometimes the cars we photograph weren't intended for blog use. Whatever the case may be, here are some of the various cars or photos that didn't make it into the main ONEC entries. Consider these "outtakes" if you will, like when your favorite music artists releasing unrelease demos or songs that never made it on to their completed records. Here are our unreleased works, released for you to enjoy! Maybe they're not the most clear, precise photos taken, but they'll offer a personal point of view between two friends sharing a love for classic cars and an undying spirit to capture the classic cars that once inhabited our raggedy Northeast roads.
An unfinished entry of an '80s Mazda B-Series I found late at night in Providence.
A car spotted on my way to school. Little did I know that I'd photograph the same almost two weeks late in Bike Ride 31.
Since my mother loves classic Camrys, having owned several in her 20s, I photographed this '91 Camry to send to her. I'd seen this rolling around my neighborhood for a few months, but never got any decent chances to photograph the car until now, and even these photos are far from my best work. I hope to find it parked sometime soon! This was photographed on Elmwood Ave. in Providence.
Too bad this was gated off, as I would've been all over it. This won't be the last time you see this though.. Check out Bike Ride 31 for the entry.
Another car I photographed on my way to school.
This photo was taken on Sprague street, off of Elmwood Ave. in Providence. This street is particularly significant to me because it was the street where my grandfather grew up, from his birth in 1942 until he left to go to college in 1960. His mother (my great grandmother) continued to live in the house into the 1980s, then moved to Cranston soon after.
The house he lived in is not photographed in this picture, but I found this to be a nice photo because of my passion for Volvos and my family history. It's sort of a two in one.
This was previously photographed back in 2021, in Bike Ride 7. To read more about it, check that entry out.
Some Swedish car appreciation on my way to school.
The gold car is a 1988 740 GLE, and the silver is a late model 960 Turbo. I really hope I can find that 740 again. I've seen it before, and it's a really cool example of a classic 740.
An incomplete and unused entry revisiting a car from Mid Spring '24.
I was unhappy with the photos from the original entry, so I thought I might get better photos with the shade providing some contrast from the sun. It turns out that photographing a blacked out car on a sunny day is just a disaster. I'll get better photos eventually.
Another incomplete and unused entry. Hopefully we can return to it again.
A classic spotted while on a walk.
Here's my pet beagle William. He is pictured happily with a classic 1966 Volvo PV-544, proving that he is also a Volvo fan.
This Volvo also appears in Bike Ride 14 and Bike Ride 25 Part I.
An incomplete entry from Bike Ride 35. The owner appeared and gave me a strange look, so I backed off.
Another unused set of photos from Bike Ride 35. I didn't use these because I didn't have the best access to the cars, as they were gated off, and trespassing would most likely result in a felony!
Picture 1 (Left to Right): 1920s Coupe, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle (or Malibu), 1958 Ford Thunderbird, Mystery Car!
Picture 2 (Left to Right): 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air, 1978 Pontiac Trans Am
An unused photo from Bike Ride 36 .
Left to right: BMW E30 Coupe, International Harvester Scout II, and Mercedes Benz R107 SL-Class Roadster.
An unused photo from Bike Ride 39.
This classic Saab flew under my radar, because it was spotted my usual Cranston-Warwick bike ride route, and I've passed by this area several times. Upon a quick glance, I happened to notice its distinct shape and color parked behind a trailer, and went to investigate. Unfortunately, a fence was blocking me from getting better pictures, so this is the best I can get for now. Hopefully one day, it'll appear in a non-restrictive setting!
An unused entry.
Photographed for Sam after a day trip to Newport. Because of the bridge's terrible road condition, I was unable to get a steady hand on the camera, hence the shaky quality.
Take your best guess! A Mercedes Benz 560-SL and a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II in one picture is probably one of the rarest shots I've ever gotten.
This was for my mom, because of her love of classic Toyotas (and Toyotas in general). It's not often you see a V20 Camry wagon, so I hope to document this in full on a future date.
This and the next GM product below were both spotted in Newport while out with a friend of mine from school. They both were spotted on the same day as the yellow MGB found the in Early Summer '24 collection.
Spotted again!
See Cars of Newport for the original entry.
Happy fourth!
This Jeep was spotted while walking to work. I ended up seeing it in the parking lot again when I got to work, but I didn't take any more photos because there weren't any good vantage points.
Photographed in passing on my way to work.
Photographed at the Mansfield train station on my way to a Foo Fighters concert at Fenway Park.
This looks to be a real 380 SEC AMG car, which is pretty impressive on its own. Unfortunately, the car itself appeared to be neglected on the inside, with lots of junk filled within it.
This ultra clean '57 Chevy is technically the car that kicked off the Cars of New Hampshire series, but because it was a drive-by shot, I don't count it as an official car of that series. It also wasn't photographed in New Hampshire, instead on I-95 in Massachusetts!
This Dodge Coronet has been in this exact location since I've been visiting New Hampshire! I wanted to document it on this trip, but given that it was parked on its owner's property, I didn't feel like committing out of state trespassing. Maybe someday I will see it in its full.
This Coronet has been painted in the MOPAR High Impact color Big Bad Orange, which I doubt is original to the car. It also has been painted in this color since I've known it.
This slightly beat Celica Supra was spotted along the Franconia Notch Highway.
This picture sums up Sam and I's interest in cars pretty well. There's an American muscle car for Sam and a European sports car for me!
Is it 2024, or did we time travel back to 1993? I've photographed both of these 240s on separate occasions, but had no idea that they belonged to the same owner. It looks to be that the owner is packing them up to go somewhere...
To read about the green 240 in the foreground, reference Late Fall Finds '23.
To read about the black 240 in the background, reference Early Fall FInds '23.
Once again, another car I would've loved to have photographed in full if it weren't parked on private property. I spotted this out of the corner of my eye while riding through the West End/Federal Hill area of Providence. Maybe one day I'll see it street parked.
This was spotted at the intersection of Westminster and Cranston St. in Providence.
For my friend Nick.
Spotted on campus on the second day of school. I have great respect for the person who drove this to class.
Only half is pictured, but this was one of the cleanest Squarebodies I've seen!
Now how often do you this in passing!?
Photographed on a walk through my neighborhood in Bonnet Shores.
I spotted this Jaguar E-Type one morning on my way to class. You know, just your average Jaguar E-Type that you normally see on your way to class. I never thought I'd write that before.
The E-Type Mk. III was produced from 1971 to 1974.
Ok, now this would be my modern daily driver! This Volvo modern classic was spotted in the faculty lot at school. I believe it had been previously for sale on Facebook. I have to meet the professor who drives this! URI definitely has a small Volvo community, considering the amount of classic Volvos I've photographed there.
See Late Summer Cars '24 Pt. 2 for the full entry.
This is just beautiful. I talked to the owner briefly, who gave me the details on the year.
See also Reader Submissions 2024.
My friend Carson loves classic German cars, so I photographed this 944 to show him. He really liked the rims.
If it were a plane, it'd be "Fly by Night," like the Rush album.
1954 Cadillac Series 75 Limousine (Pic 1) and a 1963 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 (Pic 2).
Both of these photos were taken on Route 2, a main road that connects Charleston, RI to Providence, RI.
Yup, it's got a V12 in it. This was also parked at the same house with the Rolls Royce in front of it.
This 240 was hotographed in the Wickford Walmart parking lot. Of course I had to photograph it, even if I couldn't get the standard ONEC angles. This Volvo appears to have originated from Maryland, and traversed its way north. Given that its spent its life on the Northeast, the car was very rusty in certain areas around the glass and trim areas, but otherwise looked solid.
I was unaware that BMW sold diesel cars in the US, prompting me to take this picture.
1941 Plymouth Coupe (Pic 1) and a 1948 DeSoto Coupe (Pic 2).
A huge thanks to Sam who helped ID the DeSoto.
Another classic on campus
Another Walmart classic.
Tailed from Rt. 138 and photographed on Rt. 1 in Kingston.
I have so much respect for the person who drove this to school.
Look at that color! While I'm unsure if that shade of green is a factory color, that aspect alone and this truck's vintage made this worth photographing. Yes, I see that V70 next to it too!
This was my first time ever seeing one of these.
I don't pass up a Langdon Clay moment if I can help it.
I found this parked at a university building at school one day.
An incomplete entry.
This Impala is a clone of an SS 327 car. The engine and transmission are not original to the car. It used to have a 283 and powerglide automatic transmission, before it was transformed into an SS clone. I met the owner, which is how I learned this information
I saw this classic Lincoln driving on campus, and took an impromptu photo. I had never seen it on campus before, but given that it was heading towards the strip mall at the top of campus, I don't think it was here for educational purposes. Although, you never know!
Happy Halloween!
For those wondering, this is the 1977 Rolls from above.
Maybe this Saab isn't abandoned after all. It looked to be in good condition, so I'm glad it's still being used.
Not my best photo, but I tried my best! The rule of thirds were not in my favor today.
We've seen this before too: See the full bug in Early Spring Spotting 2023!
On one hand, we have a well kept VW T3 Kombi, and on the other, we have an appropriately colored Ford Mustang. I love the clash between the minimalism of VW and flashiness of the Ford. Amazing car collection.
Spotted on Route 1 in Wickford, RI.
Now we can see it... sort of.
Spotted in the Beacon Hill area of Boston.
I had to act fast on this one, as how often do I get to see a Saab 9000, much less a classic Saab, cruising around! Before you is the silhouette of a red second generation Saab 9000 that I saw while on my way back home from school.
This appears to be a 9000 CSE, as it lacked the Aero body kit, but retains its tri-spoke wheels. I hope to see it again soon so I can confirm this theory.
I have no doubt this will be a sought after classic Volvo in about 30 years.
There's nothing like the sound and aura of a classic needle nose truck.
One Toyota carries another... really cool Toyota!
94PHISH!
Complete with the 5.0 V8, custom rims, and a blacked out plate cover.
My grandmother had a car like this one, I miss it.
A really nice example with color matched rims... and a Saab 99?
This and the next two cars were photographed while driving my newly acquired Saab 99 EMS home from New Jersey.
Another classic photographed on the way home from New Jersey.
Look at this road warrior... and a Saab 99?
Ironically photographed next to a Saab repair shop.
