Mid Spring Spotting '22

4/17/2022 - 1979 Mercury Bobcat Revisited (Sam)

Not much has changed from when we first saw the car.  The biggest difference is that it's now off the trailer and sitting on the ground.  I also spied a 50s car inside the garage under a pile of stuff.  

4/18/2022 - 1985 Volvo 245 Estate on Rt. 4 (David)

I spotted this on the way down to school one morning. This is the perfect 240. If I could have my dream Volvo 240 any way, it would look like this. Wagon body style, early 80s front, and the Volvo poverty caps. I'm really glad the owner is taking care of this one.

4/19/2022 - Ford F-250 on Campus Near Poe Field (Sam)

Here's another old campus truck.  I'd seen this OBS ninth gen F-250 around campus plenty of times, but wasn't able to photograph it until April when it was parked near my route to class.  Like most of the campus vehicles, it's very clean and free of rust, although those fender flares could be hiding some scars.  

4/20/2022 - Honda Passport Scooter Outside of New South Hall (Sam)

Your 4/20 special.  I think this belonged to a student, as I recall seeing someone riding it to class.  The first time I saw it, I forgot to take a photo.  Fortunately, it reappeared a few weeks later, so I seized the opportunity to photograph it.  This one was a little ratty, with some cosmetic dents and torn seat.  Nevertheless, it was still hard at work transporting its owner to and from class.  

4/27/2022 - VW Type 1 Single Cab by Firestone Library (Sam)

This truck was being utilized by a florist when I saw it.  It's in nice, restored shape and appears to be sporting its original air-cooled drivetrain.  Several nearby businesses, like Nomad Pizza, utilize vintage vehicles, which I think is pretty cool.  

4/28/2022 - Saab 9-5 at Browning Hall (David)

My roommate and I stepped out to get a late night pizza from the on-campus pizza shop. As we were walking out, this Saab was parked in the resident hall parking space. It has shown up on campus in the past, so it must belong to one of the students.

5/9/2022 - Saab 9-3 Sportcombi 6MT (David)

Out enjoying a nice day, I climbed to the top of a parking garage for a nice photography opportunity overlooking a lake. At the top was this Saab wagon, but upon further inspection, it was indeed a less common 6 speed version!

5/13/2022 - GMC 6500 Series Fire Truck (Sam)

This was my first Summer Break spotting: I saw it on the way back from campus after moving out.  I don't know the exact age or model, just that it's a 70s GMC rig.  The truck appeared to be well-preserved.  I hope this rig is doing parade duty during the Summer!

David: I believe this is a GMC 6500 Series, produced from '68 to '72, or thereabouts.

5/13/2022 - 1950 Chevy Deluxe Sedan (Sam)

Another find from the trip home.  This '50 Chevy Deluxe Sedan looks faded, but otherwise all there.  Of course, the rockers could be completely gone, but I have no way of telling from this photo.  Let's just assume they're still there.
