The Cars of Thayer Street

7/24/21 to 8/18/21

David: Thayer Street, located on the East Side of Providence, right near Brown University, is a popular area to go in the Summer. It's home to many types of restaurants of various cultural foods, like Mexican, Chinese, and Middle Eastern. It's also a one way street, so you get to see a lot of cool cars and bikes. Who knew a whole street could have so many cars.

7/24/21 - Mazda NB Mx-5 Miata 5MT (David)

Some regard this as the best Miata, due to its handling, but I'll always love the NA Miata. This is a great example of an NB (2nd Generation) Miata though, and it has the desirable 5 speed manual.

Across the street is a Foxbody Mustang, we'll get to that... don't worry!

Above: (7/24/21) - 1979 Toyota Corolla E70 Sedan (David)

This is a piece of classic Japanese car history. I originally thought this was an early model Honda Accord, but I will admit, I'm not great with early Japanese cars, so of course I was wrong. With a little research, we came to the strong resolution that this is a '79 Corolla E70. I'm a huge fan of how this car looks, and I love the rims the owner put on it. This car frequents the area as well, as I've seen this car multiple times here.

7/24/21 - Ford Mustang Cobra 5.0 Convertible (David)

Here we have a ridiculously clean '90s Foxbody Mustang, of course with the 5.0L engine. The rims look great on this car as well, and I can honestly say this is one of the nicest Foxbodys I've seen so far.

7/24/21 - Donked Out Chevy Caprice LS (David)

What would a night out in the city be with out a bass boosted, loud, donked out street machine?

Above: (7/24/21) - 1984 Toyota Celica Supra Mk. II (David)

Although most people love the Mk. IV Supra, my favorite Supra is the Mk. II right here. Produced from 1981 to '85, the Supra was still being produced as a trim level of the Celica. By the Mk. III, Toyota had made it its own model. This one is modified, but it still looks great.

8/6/21 - 1985 Volvo 245 Wagon (David)

Although its a bit tough to see, this is a very clean example of an '80s Volvo. I believe I remember seeing this car up on Facebook Marketplace as well, although the owner was asking a lot more than normal for most 240s, and it stayed up for a while. Although, in all fairness, this will probably be the cleanest 240 you'll see on here, aside from Jim's 242 GT.

8/18/21 - 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero Sportcombi w/ Hirsch Performance Package (David)

I was already impressed to see a Saab 9-3 Aero wagon, but then I looked at the grille, and noticed a little marker at the top. This is indeed a Hirsch Performance Package car. Hirsch is a high performance, factory approved kit you can buy for late model Saabs to give the engine more power. You can also buy brakes, suspension, and body kits as well. However, they aren't common to see, so I was very excited to see this was a Hirsch 9-3.
